Ten List of Current Most Advanced Computers

10. IBM Roadrunner

The next most advanced supercomputer in the world is the IBM Roadrunner built for the Los Alamos National Laboratory in the US.

Roadrunner is designed to produce a supercomputer with a power of 1.7 petaflops. Even in 2008, the speed of this computer has reached the highest level of 1,456 petaflops.

In addition, the design of the IBM Roadrunner is quite unique which uses a hybrid processor design involving 2 processors at once.

These processors include IBM Power X Cell 8i with 12,9860 units and AMD Opteron dual-core with 6,480 units.

9. The Cray-1

The next most advanced computer in the world is The Cray-1 which has sold more than 100 units and made it one of the most successful supercomputers in history.

This supercomputer was developed by a team led by Seymour Cray in 1975.
Delivers a freon-cooled 64-bit system running at 80 MHz with 8 megabytes of RAM using a vector instruction engine capable of 250 megaflops of peak performance.

8. Jaguar Computer

Cray also made a supercomputer belonging to a well-known US computer company. This supercomputer was named the fastest supercomputer in the world in 2010.

The operating system used on this computer uses the Cray Linux Environment. This Jaguar computer also has a speed of 1.75 petaflops.

7. Titan (OLCF-3)

The next supercomputer is Titan OLCF-3, which Cray also built at Oak Ridge National Laboratory for science projects.

Titan is an upgrade from the previous supercomputer, the Jaguar. Titan itself is the first hybrid that has a speed of more than 10 petaflops.

6. Mira Computer

The Mira supercomputer was assembled by IBM with super-based blue Gene and stored at Argine National Laboratory, USA.

In terms of speed, Mira itself is an IBM product that has superior speed compared to the previous brands. This Mira computer has a speed of up to 8.6 petaflops and uses IBM's Blue Gene/Q platform.

5. Tianhe 1 A

Tianhe 1 A is a supercomputer located at the center of the National SuperComputer Center in the Tianjin part of China.

Tianhe was named the world's fastest supercomputer in 2011 before the launch of K Computer. This supercomputer uses a processor equipped with 14,336 units of Xeon X5670 processor and 7,168 Nvidia Tela M2050 graphics processing.

4. Sunway TaihuLight

This supercomputer was created with a new breakthrough in the supercomputer industry, namely combining a control unit with a calculation unit. The development was carried out by the National Research Center for Parallel Computer Engineering and Technology (NRCPC).

3. Connection Machine 5

The next most advanced computer in the world is the CM-5 which is often found in the control room of Jurassic Park Island.

This supercomputer was used by the National Security Agency (NSA) from 1991 to 1997. The CM-5 itself has a peak performance of up to 65.5 gigaflops.

2. K Computer

This supercomputer was developed by a Japanese technology company called Fujitsu. Even K This computer has been named the fastest computer before the computer sequoia was released.

K This computer uses a SPARC64 VIIIfx 2.0 GHz 8-Core processor with a total of 68,544 units in 672 storage cabinets.

The amount of electrical power needed to operate this K Computer reaches 9.89 Mega Watts. In terms of speed, this computer is capable of processing data up to a speed of 8.162 petaflops.

1. MareNostrum 4

MareNosatrum 4 is taken from the Roman name for the Mediterranean Sea. The supercomputer is housed in the stunning and deconsecrated Chapel Girona at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

This supercomputer has been operating since 2017 and has a peak speed of 11.15 petaflops which is equivalent to eleven thousand trillion operations per second.
