Harley-Davidson America's Most Expensive Auction Motorcycle

Motorcycles are no longer only transportation for daily trips, but can also have a collection value that can make the pocket cry.

It's surprising how much money people are willing to spend on a motorcycle. Not only about performance and comfort, but also because of the scarcity of these products. Could be because it is no longer produced or deliberately made to be the only one. Of course, this scarcity is not the only influencing factor.

1907 Harley-Davidson Strap Tank ($297,000)

This bike-like motorcycle is the very first model produced by the automotive company. Dubbed the Strap Tank, this bike has changed hands many times before finally being auctioned off at the 2021 Mecum Auction. With the highest selling price of $650,000, this time the buyer is clearly very lucky.

Harley Davidson 1943 E Model and Harley-Davidson FL 1945 ($220,000)

This Harley motorcycle is a new model with an overhead valve engine that was introduced in 1935. Its development was hampered by the Malaise Crisis and the war effort did not make it easier for Harley to sell this motorcycle to the public.

That year was also the year Harley Davidson returned after surviving the Crisis and there were only 2 manufacturers who managed to do it. In 1946, only 158 units were produced, making it one of the rarest models from the brand.

Vincent Black Shadow 1953 ($165,000)

Vincent's second motorcycle on this list sparked a bidding war between the 2 buyers. Although this model is the same as the previous model, this motorbike still has spare parts and parts that are well maintained. Even this Vincent can still run like an ordinary motorbike and has been tested. No wonder everyone wants to own this historical vehicle that can still be driven.

Harley-Davidson FL 1944 ($143,000)

This Harley Davidson model is one of the first Harley models to sport a big-twin overhead-valve. But this is not the only unique thing. Only 172 FL units were produced because of the war. This motorbike was also purchased by the museum in 1989. This 10th-order motorbike is not the only FL model that is included in this list.
