Royal Enfield Moto Himalaya 2022 Difficulty Breathing and Acclimatization

Moto Himalaya is a touring activity coveted by every rider from all over the world. The reason is that the route taken is very challenging. The riders have to pass various obstacles on the highest track in the world. Starting from the weather that can change at any time and thin oxygen levels in the highlands. But this risky journey offers stunning views.

Every year Royal Enfield holds a Marquee Global Ride entitled Moto Himalaya. This year is the first time we have all been hit by the global Covid-19 pandemic. Opportunity to conquer the Himalayan trails, of course with a Royal Enfield Himalayan motorbike. The total distance covered in this touring trip reaches thousands of kilometers.

The first day the goal is to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass. Depart from the inn at 08.30 local time. The distance covered is approximately 175 km. At first, the route was normal. Various asphalt contours can still be passed easily. But after walking 20 km, the track began to crumble and narrow. The big risk begins. The gorge on the left is not delimited and the right is a rock cliff. Lack of focus in driving can bring disaster for all of us. Not to mention there are donkeys and buffalo crossing the middle of the road. And no less dangerous are large vehicles that ask for roads in narrow lanes.

The route that we pass has off-road contours and uphill, plus fog with cold air that can't be stopped. The thermal gloves I was wearing couldn't withstand the cold. I don't know what the temperature was at that time. Maybe it's at 12 degrees. While the altitude has reached 4,000 meters above sea level.

At that moment, dizziness strikes again. Yes, the brain begins to read that the body lacks oxygen. Seeing how some of the participants' driving started to go awry, the group leader decided to stop for a moment. Elevation was already diangka 5,000 masl. The doctor got out of the car and made sure all the riders were in good condition. He advised the participants not to move too much. Shut up and take a deep breath.

Subsequent trips traveled twice as far. Because there is one river that cannot be passed by vehicles due to flooding. The leader of the group simply said, "Prepare yourselves!" Explorations on the second and third days also prove how strong the Royal Enfield Himalayan is in conquering the extreme paths of the Himalayas.

The challenge continues and gets worse in the last 5 kilometers to Wari La Pass. It's even heavier than when we went to Khardung La Pass. Khardung La Pass, oxygen supply is limited. Chang La Pass is the third culmination of this proud adventure. It is located at an altitude of 5,391 masl or 17,688 ft.

And finally the adventure of the day was over. All participants looked happy when they parked the vehicle at the inn. How could it be possible to return to Leh in perfect condition. A three day adventure that drains energy and mind. In addition, an important note from me, Royal Enfield's expertise in designing the Himalayan is quite successful. He can pass a variety of road terrain without any problems with the suspension or engine. Without a doubt, our mounts are like two-wheeled tanks.
