The Indonesian automotive market has been busy with the arrival of Chinese car manufacturers in recent years. Unlike before, which was still underestimated, now the brand from the country of the bamboo curtain is slowly but surely starting to be accepted by the market.
Based on the membership of the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), there are three Chinese automotive brands selling cars domestically, namely Wuling, DFSK and MG.
Yes MG aka Morris Garage. Although of British descent, the car manufacturer was acquired by a company from China, Nanjing Automobile Group, then acquired again by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) Motor.
SAIC Motor then invested in India to establish MG Motor India, then bought the General Motors factory to manufacture MG cars. Including expanding its expansion into Thailand and Indonesia.
MG's range of cars, which are still SUVs, are sold with full import status from Thailand. Meanwhile, other Chinese automotive brands, such as Wuling and DFSK, are trying to provide a more diverse model, such as commercial vehicles, passenger cars in the form of MPVs, minibuses or SUVs.
Then, how is the performance of China's car sales? Especially in the period from January to August 2021, who will win?
Referring to Gaikindo's wholesales data (distribution from factories to dealers), the three of them supplied 17,130 cars during that period. Wuling contributed 84.8 percent, DFSK 11.2 percent and MG 3.8 percent. So you know who the winner is?

Wuling from January to August 2021 distributed 14,540 units. The incision increased 487 percent when compared to the same period last year of 2,473 units.
DFSK also experienced an increase of around 89 percent. In the first 7 months of last year it distributed 1,016 units, while at the same time this year there were 1,922 units.
In particular, even though MG has launched new cars in March and August 2020, the distribution of units to the sales network will be carried out in December 2020. So the increase cannot be compared year to date. However, during January-August 2021, 668 MG units were supplied to dealers.
