AI Art, Artist Gets Banned One-sided Due to the Similarity of the Picture Style

In recent months, image creation with the help of AI technology has become one of the emerging trends. By entering several keywords, this AI system will process these keywords and then process them to become an image that resembles a painting or a man-made image.

Many people are happy with the presence of this technology, especially those who are new to art, because now they can also easily produce images like a professional without having to have a background or study advanced art knowledge first.

However, the opposite is felt by artists because the presence of this technology is considered to be detrimental to them. In addition to making it easier to create images and directly reduce the view of digital artists in the public eye, with this technology many people commit fraud by claiming to be artists and using AI-generated images to exhibit, trade and even take part in competitions.

The rise of this action often results in incidents where many artists are accused of using AI even though the drawings are actually the work of their own hands.

This phenomenon happened to an artist from Vietnam. He himself was banned from one of the subreddit forums after sending a picture he made to the group because it was accused of being made by AI.

A digital artist from Vietnam named Min Anh Nguyen Hoang, otherwise known as Ben Moran, was banned by the moderator of an r/art subreddit after he was accused of posting an artwork created by the group's AI.

This incident occurred on December 27th. At that time Ben Moran uploaded his work entitled A Muse in Warzone to r/art, a subreddit that has about 20 million followers. Not long ago, his uploaded work was deleted by the group moderator and his account was banned from the subreddit because of allegations that the image was created by AI Generator.

Moran immediately contacted the moderator of the group, and explained that his work did not use AI at all. Moran also said that he could send proof that the work was purely his creation. But the moderator instead gave a negative response to him.

Through his Twitter account, Ben Moran sent a screenshot of the conversation between himself and the r/art moderator. According to the moderator, he didn't believe and didn't care what Moran said.

In addition to this conversation, Moran also shared a hill of screenshots of the original editing process of the image, as well as a collection of images that became references for his work.

His post attracted a lot of attention from artists, especially digital artists. Many support Moran to continue to be rich and don't need to care about the moderator and the group. Many also channeled their frustration at the subreddit moderator's response and considered him to have "lost his mind" and even "really don't understand art".

This incident also resulted in many reddit users protesting on the r/art subreddit. The r/art subreddit itself was private in early January, but is now operating normally. Reporting from PCGamer, on January 8 2023 there was a post that read "F**k r/art" and became one of the posts that generated high upvote numbers, which was around 125,000 upvotes.

Moran himself is the Lead Artist for a Vietnam-based studio called KRAT Studio. The work entitled A Muse in Warzone is the result of his work with 2 other members of the studio. The work is also a candidate for the cover of a book entitled Beneath the Dragoneye Moons by the Selkie Myth.
