Apple Integrates Proximity Sensor on Dynamic Island iPhone 15

The latest news comes regarding the iPhone 15, according to news from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will integrate a proximity sensor on the Dynamic Island iPhone 15.

This year, all iPhone 15 models will include Apple's Dynamic Island incorporating a pill and punch-hole cutout at the top of the screen, but there will also be material changes to features not included in iPhone 14 Pro models.

This is a minor change because Apple previously embedded a proximity sensor under the screen (outside Dynamic Island). For information, the proximity sensor functions to detect the distance when the user holds the phone.

This sensor helps the device to turn off the screen when the user brings the iPhone to the ear there is a possibility that the relocation of the sensor is related to improvements in Face ID. But Kuo says that these changes will make no difference to the look or functionality of Dynamic Island.

Regardless, this likely marks changes in components that may have been triggered to reduce manufacturing costs. In a series of tweets on his personal account, Kuo revealed that Apple supplier Finisar will switch to providing a proximity sensor with a 940nm band.

This makes the iPhone 15's proximity sensor shorter than the iPhone 14 Pro, which has a 1380nm wave. According to a leak from Unknownz21, the new proximity sensor will be part of the Single Pearl Module codenamed Sphinx.

However, it should be noted that the leaks regarding the integration of the proximity sensor with the Dynamic Island iPhone 15 Pro are still limited to speculation.

Leaked renders previously showed the shape and new features of the most anticipated iPhone 15 Pro. But the thing that stands out the most about render is that it has fewer buttons. Instead of having two separate buttons for volume control, future phones may have one function that works two.

The iPhone 15 Pro renders also show that there will be no mute button. Instead, Apple has opted for buttons to offer the same functionality.

That is, the mute/silent button and the volume button will be combined into one long button. Earlier this month, ShrimpApplePro also claimed that this year Apple will continue to bring the Dynamic Island feature to the iPhone 15.

Also, slightly curved bezels on all iPhone products. This means that all iPhone 15 products will use Dynamic Island.

Another change, namely the iPhone 15 will be the first iPhone 15 to use USB C to replace the Lightning port. That means the iPhone 15 Pro buttons are expected to be solid-state. And to provide feedback, Apple will rely on a software mechanism, offering a vibrating sensation when activated.

The Design On the other hand, the base model iPhone 15 seems to have a mute button on renders. So, you'll likely find the signature feature in its original form on the base model.
