Pessimistic Fabio Quartararo: MotoGP Champion 2023 is Too Heavy, YZR-M1 is Outdated

Fabio Quartararo looks more realistic at competition this season. The reason is, for Fabio Quartararo to be able to compete with Francesco Bagnaia is a very difficult mission.

Fabio Quartararo's pessimism is actually not without reason. This is because Monster Energy Yamaha is still stuck in a classic problem, namely the development of the YZR-M1 motorbike

The motorbike he was riding did not satisfy Fabio Quartararo. Fabio Quartararo even loudly said that the Monster Energy Yamaha motorbike was getting left behind when compared to other MotoGP 2023 manufacturers regarding the iron horse setup.

"Thinking about the world title? No, at the moment it's not the right thing," said Fabio Quartararo.

For Fabio Quartararo, a slick motorbike belongs to Francesco Bagnaia, namely the Desmosedici GP23 owned by Ducati.

"Of course the Yamaha bike is very good for me, but we still lack a little bit of speed to really fight for the title (world championship)."

"Pecco (Bagnaia), he has 2 or 3 tenths more than us (about speed)," he explained.

"So until we get those 2 or 3 tenths, we won't be able to fight for the title."

So far, Monster Energy Yamaha has not broken an egg in the 2023 MotoGP competition.

Yamaha's YZR-M1 is considered to be far behind the iron horses of other manufacturers.

"What I see is that the Ducati is going much faster than us, the Aprilia and almost all the bikes that are in the MotoGP paddock as well."

"So if it is a solution to go faster, I think we have to do it," said the racer nicknamed El Diablo.

"Then I knew that the most important thing in racing is to have the ability to overtake, and at the moment we don't have that."
