The Lexus LBX 2023 has just been introduced, which is planned to open official orders in Europe in July this year.
The LBX is built on the TNGA-B platform which will be positioned as the younger sibling of the Lexus UX but is still a crossover SUV.
If we look at the platform used, it turns out to be the same as the Toyota Yaris Cross, which for the ASEAN version was recently introduced in Indonesia. Maybe this is the luxury version of the Toyota Yaris Cross from Lexus.
2023 Lexus LBX Starts Production Next Year
As quoted from the Lexus Global press release, orders for the LBX will open in July 2023, while the official launch procession will take place in October this year.
However, the new Lexus car will only start production next year, and will be sent to consumers who have ordered it starting in March 2024. It's just that there hasn't been any information regarding the variant and also the selling price range.
Simpler Appearance
You could say that the LBX will be the lowest trim of a Lexus which is known as a manufacturer of premium cars from Toyota.
Because it's the lowest class, it's only natural that the looks of this car don't look as luxurious as its siblings such as the Lexus UX, NX, RX, let alone RX.
However, the front fascia still uses a grille like the other newest Lexus variants, combined with the LED projector headlamps and integrated LED DRLs.
The front bumper can also get a sporty title, it's just that the pull of the body line on the side up to the C pillar still has the feel of the European version of the Yaris Cross.
The roof is made using a black color that is different from the body color, as well as the color combination of the wheels installed.
At the back, the lights that are made to blend between the left and right still remind us of the design of the Lexus UX lights, it's just that on the LBX the edges are curved.
While the bumper also has quite aggressive indentations, it's different from the UX which is more sloping.
The cabin remains characteristic of a Lexus
If from the outside it looks simple, then apparently not with the cabin layout of this new car. The three-spoke steering wheel, the rada and simple dashboard layout, and the presence of a 9.8-inch touch screen head unit combined with 13 Mark Levinson speakers really emphasize the image of the Lexus brand.
In addition, there are complete AC settings with the position of the hidden AC grilles on the dashboard lines, seats with electric adjustments, to the full LCD instrument panel, adding to the premium feel of the Lexus LBX.
Use the Toyota Yaris Cross Engine
Due to the various similar platforms, it turns out that the LBX also uses an engine equivalent to the Yaris Cross, but the European version is not the one that was just introduced by PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM).
The engine is the 1.5L THS-II which consists of a 1,500 cc naturally aspirated gasoline engine plus an electric motor.
The result is a maximum power output of 136 PS with a peak torque of 185, all of which is channeled through the E-CVT transmission to all four wheels using the E-Four drive system. Will the 2023 Lexus LBX also enter Indonesia? We will wait for futher news.
