Honda is presenting the Honda Prelude Concept car for the first time in America on 17 – 26 November 2023 at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Honda Prelude Concept comes with a hybrid-electric powertrain designed to provide driving pleasure for drivers with a more environmentally friendly engine .
This latest sports concept car from Honda was previously introduced for the first time in the world at the Japan Mobility Show exhibition in October 2023. This model carries the legendary name of the Honda Prelude which was first introduced in 1978 in Japan. In America itself, this coupe (two door) type car was sold until the fifth generation in 2001.
Gary Robinson as Vice President Auto Planning and Strategy, American Honda Motor Co., Inc said, "We are presenting the Honda Prelude Concept which shows our electrification product strategy where this car appears with a sporty design and dynamic performance. Honda's hybrid models have been well received, advancing the electrification strategy in the United States. Our hybrid car product line represents a quarter of Honda's sales in 2023.”
At the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show exhibition, the Honda Prelude Concept will be one of the special products at the Honda booth along with the Honda Prologue which is Honda's first fully electric SUV product. Apart from that, Honda also displayed its newest product, namely the new Honda Motocompacto e-scooter which will go on sale at the end of 2023.
Towards its global goal of achieving carbon neutrality for all of the company's products and activities by 2050, Honda envisions battery-electric and fuel cell electric vehicles representing 100% of its new vehicle sales by 2040.
Hybrid vehicles are an important step in Honda's electrification strategy, where Honda has achieved record sales of electric vehicles in 2023. Now more than 25% of Honda's total sales are contributed by hybrid models. In early 2024, the Honda Prologue will start sales. Then in 2025, mid to large EV models will also go on sale.
