Innova Zenix HEV Hybrid Engine Surgery, Can Drive Like an Electric Car on the Road

All New Kijang Innova Zenix HEV Hybrid Engine Surgery, Can Drive Like an Electric Car on the Road

Different from the previous generation, now there is the option of the All New Kijang Innova Zenix HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle). This environmentally friendly car uses a 2.0L TNGA engine coded M20A-FKS Dynamic Force Engine which is efficient and powerful. Toyota has also embedded Toyota Hybrid System technology in this Indonesian family's dream car.

The 2.0L TNGA engine provides better performance by providing the right and optimal combination of acceleration and fuel consumption. Plus the driving quality is more comfortable thanks to optimal power distribution in each engine speed range with smooth distribution and according to needs.

Innova Zenix HEV Engine Specifications

The 2.0L TNGA engine coded M20A-FXS 1,987 cc 4 cylinder Dual VVT-i produces 152 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 19.1 Kgm of torque at 4,400-5,200 rpm. When driving, the performance of this engine will be strengthened by an electric motor with 113 PS power and 21 Kgm of torque, resulting in a combined power of 186 PS on the front wheel drive system (FWD/Front Wheel Drive).

Toyota Hybrid System Gen-5 is able to optimize power production control on combustion motors and electric motors, resulting in superior performance, better efficiency and low emissions. So, this car will always look for the most efficient combination between a combustion engine and an electric motor, of course without forgetting the reliability of engine performance.

Compact electric motors also have components developed in them to increase power output. Furthermore, the downsized transaxle that transmits power to the front wheels has improved performance to provide the best efficiency and is quieter when operating.

The Ni-MH hybrid battery is now packaged in a compact package and stored under both front seats without reducing space in the cabin area. There is a filter on the battery cooling air channel cover, so that dust buildup in the cooling path can be suppressed to prevent a decrease in battery life due to an increase in temperature.

10-Speed Direct Shift CVT

All types of Innova Zenix no longer have a manual transmission option and have been replaced by a CVT transmission coded K120 which is smooth and responsive. Efficient mechanical component performance and a wider steel belt ratio improve fuel efficiency, acceleration and quiet operation.

The combination of steel belts and transmission gears widens the range of transmission ratios to capture the engine's power potential in very dynamic driving conditions. This feature is unique because there are gears with a ratio of 3.337 for forward and 3.136 for reverse which collaborate with a CVT steel belt ratio of 2.236-0.447.

A final gear ratio of 4.262 ensures easy acceleration in a variety of driving conditions and loads as well as adequate engine brake performance.

The 10-speed Sequential Shiftmatic mode is adopted to enable gear shifting like a manual transmission to enhance driving enjoyment. This system allows shifting in all selected gears by moving the transmission lever to + or – when the transmission lever is in the M position.

Highly responsive Sequential Shiftmatic Control is adopted to precisely control torque during smooth and nimble gear changes.

There is an Uphill/Downhill Shift Control feature

The Uphill/downhill Shift Control feature contributes to improving driving ability on mountain routes. The system assesses whether the road is uphill or downhill according to gas opening and car speed.

When going uphill, acceleration pedal control is improved. When going down a hill and the car accelerates, downshift is implemented automatically. In addition, when the brakes start to work, downshift is added to provide a stronger engine braking effect.

Driving Modes on the Innova Zenix

All hybrid models on the Kijang Innova Zenix are equipped with Eco, Normal, Power and EV driving modes. While using Power mode, the response to changes in the steel belt ratio is improved so that the driver can better experience the G-force driving sensation.

Meanwhile, for EV (Electric Vehicle) mode, you will be presented with the unique experience of driving an electric car that is full of torque from the moment you press the gas pedal, but with quiet operation and zero emissions. There is also no need for petrol because the combustion engine is not active at all.
