Chery iCAR V23 Electric Car Introduced, a Combination of Toyota FJ Cruise and Land Rover Defender
The leading automotive manufacturer from China, Chery, recently introduced the Chery iCAR V23. Quoting Chinapev.com, after being introduced, the iCAR V23 is said to be officially launched to the public at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show which will be held from April 25 to May 4.
As a small SUV type pure electric car, the Chery iCAR V23 was created to provide an off-road driving experience in narrow terrain thanks to the use of an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) drive system. The iCAR V23 has an approach angle of 43 degrees and a departure angle of 41 degrees which makes it easier for the driver when conquering even extreme terrain.
This electric car was created as the first model of collaboration between Chery and SmartMi Technology (a subsidiary of Xiaomi) in new energy vehicles (NEV).
The dimensions of the Chery iCAR V23 are slightly larger than the Toyota Raize
Said to be officially launched in the second half of this year, the iCAR V23 has dimensions that are considered very compact. On paper, the overall length of the car is 4,220 mm, width 1,915 mm, height 1,845 mm, and wheelbase 2,730 mm.
In terms of size, the Chery electric car with SmartMi Technology is slightly larger than the Toyota Raize. As an illustration, Raize's dimensions are 4,030 mm long, 1,710 mm wide, 1,635 mm high and a wheelbase of 2,525 mm.
The size of the iCAR V23 makes it not only feel agile when used off-road, but is also suitable for supporting daily activities in big cities. Oh yes, the ground clearance for this electric car is 206 mm when using 19 inch rims, and 212 mm for models that use 21 inch rims.
Design Inspired by the Toyota FJ Cruise and Land Rover Defender?
If the current SUV cars generally have a sporty and dynamic shape, the iCAR V23 actually carries a boxy concept. On the facade, this electric car is at first glance similar to the Toyota FJ Cruise, where the main lights are placed slightly towards the center and there are flat turn signals right next to it.
Not only the shape of the face, the similarity can also be seen from the wide bonnet. As for the side, the design displayed is also similar to the Land Rover Defender. This can be seen from the area and curve it receives.
Apart from the Toyota FJ Cruise and Land Rover Defender, the iCAR V23 also has similarities to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class at the rear. The similarity can be seen in the use of the stop lamp, which for some people looks identical.
Oh yes, the trunk door of this electric car has a small box. It is said that this object is an additional storage space that cannot be opened from the outside, which can be used to store various kinds of riding equipment.
Chery iCAR V23 Mileage Above 500 Kilometers
The Chery iCAR V23 is built using a new platform by providing a single RWD electric motor and dual AWD electric motors.
Although detailed specifications have not been officially announced, the manufacturer claims that when the battery is fully charged, this electric car can provide a cruising range of more than 400 kilometers for the RWD variant.
Meanwhile, the four-wheel drive model has a claimed distance of over 500 kilometers. The news spread that the batteries used were supplied from the leading battery manufacturer CATL.
