SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) category cars are currently being loved in Indonesia. Especially thanks to the emergence of the entry-level SUV category but with a 7-seater configuration. As a result, its presence can disrupt the MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) market, which has so far dominated car sales in the country.
Starting from the duet of Toyota Rush and Daihatsu Terios, the 7-passenger LSUV segment is now quite busy. For example, the existence of the Suzuki XL7 and Mitsubishi Xpander Cross. Then there is also the Honda BR-V. And each of these LSUVs has changed generations and gotten the latest facelift.
Then who is the best-selling 7-passenger LSUV in Indonesia? We sort them based on wholesale data from GAIKINDO (Indonesian Association of Automotive Industries) for the May 2022 period.
The order of the best-selling 7-passenger LSUV in Indonesia as of May 2022:
- Honda BR-V
- Toyota Rush
- Suzuki XL7
- Daihatsu Terios
- Mitsubishi Xpander Cross
Best selling Honda BR-V Prestige Honda Sensing
From wholesales data (distribution from factories to dealers) it can be seen that the number of Honda BR-V is the largest, namely 1,400 units. Interestingly, at the beginning of 2022 the All New BR-V Prestige type had the most demand, then from April to May, the Prestige with Honda Sensing type experienced the largest distribution.
Toyota Rush Manual Transmission Preferred
The second best-selling 7-passenger LSUV in Indonesia is the Toyota Rush. Actually it is not surprising that Rush is at the top. But what's interesting is that the most popular Toyota Rush variant uses a manual transmission, namely the G MT and GR Sport MT types.
Suzuki XL7 Still Stable
Under the Toyota Rush is the Suzuki XL7, which sold 914 units last month. In fact, this achievement has experienced a significant decline compared to April 2022, which was able to distribute 1,544 units. However, that was due to the short working day as a result of the Idul Fitri holiday. So actually these sales are relatively stable.
Daihatsu Terios Dropped Sharply
In April 2022, Daihatsu Terios was able to record wholesales of 2,471 units and was included in the top 10 best-selling cars in Indonesia according to GAIKINDO. But in the following month this position was thrown quite far. That's because Terios sales slumped to 762 units.
Mitsubishi Xpander Cross Rises Slightly
Mitsubishi posted sales of Xpander Cross in May 2022 of 671 units. The Premium CVT type dominates sales of the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross. This achievement was actually slightly better than April 2022, which recorded 662 units. Unfortunately, the Xpander Cross is unlucky to be in last place on the list of the best-selling 7-seater LSUV in Indonesia.
