Ford Ranger PHEV will be released, it could be a running generator

Ford announced that it will release the Ford Ranger PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) starting in 2025 as an effort by the United States (US) manufacturer to combine the durability of an off-road adventure vehicle but also participate in the era of electrification which is now going global.

The Ranger PHEV is also the first project for Ford to take a step forward in the company's plans to offer a variety of engine choices for its customers, and become a major player in the medium pick-up segment.

"The Ranger Plug-in Hybrid offers customers how to drive an EV for short distances, while also experiencing the performance of a hybrid engine and still having outstanding performance off road," said Andrew Birkic, President and CEO, Ford Australia and New Zealand in a written statement. .

2025 Ford Ranger PHEV Uses a Gasoline Engine

This Ranger Plug-in Hybrid will be equipped with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo petrol engine combined with an electric motor and a battery system that can be recharged via a charging socket.

This vehicle can also be driven in pure electric mode for 45 kilometers without using a drop of fuel and does not produce any emissions from the tailpipe.

Although the maximum power and torque have not been stated, it is certain that it will be greater than the diesel engine currently in the Ford Ranger.

Moreover, the manufacturer claims that the Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid is still capable of towing loads of up to 3.5 tonnes, or the same as the current diesel-engined Ranger.

Can be a source of electricity when camping

There are many interesting things about the Ranger PHEV, such as the Pro Power Onboard feature which allows car owners to turn on camping site electrical equipment, such as electric stoves or lamps, by plugging them into the socket installed in the cabin.

This car is also given complete driving modes, so drivers can determine when they want to use full EV, hybrid or performance mode.

Then the Ranger's well-known tough 4x4 wheel drive system, as well as complete safety features, are also still maintained.

"The Ranger Plug-in Hybrid will join Ford's electric vehicle lineup alongside the Mach-E, E-Transit, E-Transit Custom and Puma BEV," concluded Birkic.
