"With the growing maturity of supporting industries, such as mobile gaming and 5G networks, and smartphones becoming more and more attached to lifestyles, the smartphone trend in 2023 will not be far from the need for extreme performance, connection to 5G networks, and always-on use of smartphones."

In 2023, POCO will return to presenting smartphones with extreme performance at extreme prices as technology in smartphones will become a trend in the following 2023.

Extreme performance cannot be compromised

The ability of smartphones to run heavy workloads smoothly is the main thing that users are interested in. An easy example is the use for mobile gaming. Esports is the most important growth driver in the gaming industry in Asia, with the majority of Asian gamers actively playing or competing in esports games.

According to the Niko Partners report, there are 290.2 million active mobile gamers and 90% of them play esports games or compete in some form of esports. In 2023, the total revenue from the mobile game industry in Asia is predicted to touch $5.2 billion.

In the same year, mobile gaming was no longer just a game or sport, but also became popular entertainment. Young users now want to be able to play mobile games following their role models in esports clubs. And the effect will require a smartphone with extreme performance capabilities.

5G smartphones are gaining popularity

Users will increasingly need 5G capabilities along with the growth of 5G network coverage in cities in Indonesia. Coupled with the increasing affordability of 5G-capable chipsets, which are now available for lower-middle-class smartphones.

According to DIGITIMES Research, by 2023, 5G smartphone shipments are expected to grow by more than 20% and will mostly be driven by markets outside of China even though the Chinese market is slowly recovering from the current economic downturn. Markets outside of China are expected to account for more than 70% of global 5G smartphone shipments by 2023.

Recharging will be even faster on mid-range smartphones

Recharging smartphone batteries will be a crucial factor for users in choosing a smartphone. Fast and safe charging options on flagship class smartphones will increasingly penetrate the middle segment.

For example, in recent years, a 67 Watt charger, which was previously only available in the flagship class, is now available in the mid-high class, such as the POCO X3 GT.

In addition, the time and extreme performance requirements of a smartphone will increase, which will result in greater smartphone power usage.

So, the more power required the faster the recharge. And in the end it will further strengthen the possibility that even higher power chargers will be present in the middle class segment.
