The use of Eco-Driving driving techniques has many benefits for motorists, one of which is helping to reduce carbon emissions. In addition, this technique is also able to optimize the use of fuel efficiently.
To support this Eco-Driving driving style, PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (PT SIS) has embedded the Engine Auto Start-Stop feature on the All New Ertiga Hybrid which can reduce fuel use when it is not needed during a trip.
The Engine Auto Start-Stop feature will be very useful for motorists who often experience heavy traffic on their way. Because during Stop & Go, the engine which is usually idle when the car stops, will now be deactivated so that fuel use can be minimized.
The machine will start automatically if needed again. The positive impact is that car engines will not produce exhaust emissions and are more efficient in these conditions. In this way, Suzuki helps drivers apply the Eco-Driving style and contributes to reducing emissions.
In order to make it easier for motorists to use the Engine Auto Start-Stop feature, Suzuki provides some easy-to-use instructions:
Engine Auto Start-Stop feature is always on automatically
The Engine Auto Start-Stop feature under normal conditions will always be active every time the car is started, thus making it easier for the driver because it does not require certain adjustments to the car. This automation feature aims to provide positive habits for drivers in terms of using the Eco-Driving driving style at all times.
Engine Auto Start-Stop Requirements Work
In order for the Engine Auto Start-Stop feature to work on the All New Ertiga Hybrid, there are several basic conditions that must be considered. The first thing to make sure is make sure the driver's door is closed. Second, the seat belt is attached to the driver's side. Third, the Lithium-ion battery and Accu are sufficient or the battery indicator on the MID (Multi Information Display) shows more than 2 bars after the engine is started.
Fourth, this feature will work if the car has been traveling at a minimum speed of 10 km/hour. If one of the conditions is not met, the Engine Auto Start-Stop feature cannot work and is indicated by the appearance of Idling Stop Unavailable information in the MID.
How it Works Engine Auto Start-Stop Feature
This feature will work if a moving car then has to stop, such as when facing a traffic jam or waiting for a traffic light. Smartly, activation of the Engine Auto Start-Stop on the All New Ertiga Hybrid with automatic transmission will detect the brake pedal being pressed, then the engine will automatically deactivate.
Whereas in the manual transmission variant, while still pressing the brake pedal, the driver needs to move the transmission lever to the neutral position and release the stamp on the clutch pedal. To start the engine again on the All New Ertiga Hybrid with automatic transmission, the driver only needs to release his stamp from the brake pedal and start pressing the accelerator pedal. As for the manual transmission variant, the driver only needs to step on the clutch pedal.
"The Engine Auto Start-Stop feature comes as part of Suzuki's technology which functions to make fuel use more effective, because when the car stops for a moment the engine will automatically turn off and prevent the engine from experiencing the combustion process. When the engine automatically turns off, this is where the Accu battery and Lithium-ion battery supply energy so that electrical functions and other convenience features in the All New Ertiga Hybrid continue to work normally.
Suzuki advises customers to jointly apply the Eco-Driving driving style to their daily activities in order to help reduce exhaust emissions as well as fuel consumption," explained Donny Saputra, 4W Marketing Director of PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (PT SIS).
