Fiat now has a very limited model range in Europe. The majority are city cars 500, both conventional and electric, plus the aging Panda and the larger Tipo.
However, in other parts of the world, the lineup of Italian brands is more diverse, with Fiat Brazil offering models such as Uno, Mobi, Argo, Cronos, Strada, Toro, to Grand Siena.
Now, get ready to add the Pulse to the list - a small crossover mechanically linked to the Argo small hatchback and Cronos sedan.
After releasing pictures of the exterior and announcing the name of the car (post online poll), Fiat finally allowed us to take a closer look at the cabin.
As you can see, the area underwent some changes compared to Argo and Cronos.
Fiat combines a seven-inch full digital instrument cluster with a 10.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system.
The last feature runs on the latest Uconnect software which is also applied to the Toro pickup truck.
However, the Toro gets the screen set in portrait mode, while the Pulse has a more conventional horizontal setting.
Compared to the Argo and Cronos, the upcoming Pulse features different climate controls, plus a red Sport button on the steering wheel.
In a press release issued to the Brazilian market, Fiat said it had developed new textures and fabrics, as well as special paints and finishes to set this model apart from other smaller crossovers.
The Pulse will go on sale in Brazil in the coming months with two engine options.
There's a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder unit with about 120 horsepower and 196 Newton-meters (145 pound-feet) of torque, as well as a standard naturally aspirated 1.3 liter with 109 hp and 139 Nm (103 lb-ft).
The first engine will work with a six-speed automatic gearbox, while the second will be connected to a five-speed manual or continuously variable transmission.
Pricing details have not been disclosed, but it is expected to be cheaper than the Jeep Compass. In Brazil predicts the Fiat Pulse will be priced around US$15,600 to US$21,500
