Acer today launched four new Chromebooks to meet the needs of students, teachers and administrators, including the first Acer Chromebook Vero model designed specifically for the education market. This new model provides the latest in durability, performance, and features, making it a powerful tool to help educators deliver better learning outcomes.
Impactful Learning and Teaching with Chrome Education Upgrade, Touchless Enrollment
All new Acer Chromebooks are available with the Chrome Education Upgrade, which enables IT staff and administrators to manage, implement, and plan student learning, while ensuring students get the most out of Chromebooks[3]. IT departments can easily perform admin support, manage devices, and automatically enroll new Acer Chromebooks on their school site as soon as end users are connected to the internet via Zero-touch enrollment.
Endurance Features Designed Specifically for Students
All new Acer Chromebooks for education have an impact-resistant exterior that meets MIL-STD 810H testing standards[4] to withstand daily trials in busy school environments. They feature a reinforced angular design with shock-absorbing bumpers so they are protected from drops as high as 122 cm (48 inches) and can withstand up to 60 kg (132.3 lbs) of pressure. The durable new Chromebook also features an internal bracket that extends and widens that protects the screen, even when mishandled. Plus, the ports have been reinforced with metal plating to protect them from the wear and tear that students often use.
The four new Chromebooks each have a keyboard designed to protect the device from common student mishaps. The keyboard is spill-resistant and has a unique drainage system that helps protect internal components from spills of up to 330 ml (11 oz)[5]. All four Acer Chromebooks feature moisture-resistant OceanGlass™ touchpads, made of ocean-bound plastic, reducing waste while providing a sleek, glassy texture and responsive tactile feel.
They also have mechanically anchored locks that are difficult for curious students to remove, but at the same time, easy for IT personnel to repair or replace. The Acer Chromebook 511, Acer Chromebook Spin 511, and Acer Chromebook Spin 512 also feature new serviceable keyboards that can be completely removed and replaced by simply removing two screws. Finally, all four new Acer Chromebooks have been certified to meet two of the leading toy safety standards, ASTM F963-16[6] and UL/IEC 60950-1[7], meaning they're also safe to share with young children.
Acer Chromebook Vero 712 Brings Eco Design to Schools
The performance-conscious and environmentally-conscious Acer Chromebook Vero 712(CV872/T) lets students see and do more. This Chromebook for school has a 3:2 aspect ratio and 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors that allow students to code faster on their Chromebooks. The productivity-boosting 12-inch HD+ IPS display has a taller 3:2 aspect ratio that provides 18% more vertical space compared to screens of the same width, so more schoolwork, text, maps, and photos can be seen before students need to scroll. The Chromebook's TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe® (Hardware Solution) certified screen also reduces harmful blue light while ensuring that users can still enjoy vivid colors when viewing from their device. In addition, the powerful 12th Gen Intel Core processors allow students to work on more sophisticated schoolwork such as coding and video editing, while also running many programs and applications without delay.
Featuring recycled materials, sustainable packaging and an energy efficient design, the Acer Chromebook Vero 712 is part of the environmentally conscious Vero line that reflects the company's commitment to sustainability. The new Acer Chromebook Vero 712 uses recycled materials in many product areas including 30% post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR) in the chassis and display bezel and 50% PCR plastic in the keycaps. Even device packaging supports the company's mission to reduce, reuse and recycle with the use of 100% recycled pulp.
Three New Durable Chromebooks Meet a Variety of Education Settings
In addition to the first Acer Chromebook Vero for education customers, Acer has expanded its Chromebook lineup for this market with three new models: Acer Chromebook Spin 512 (R856T) convertible with 12-inch display, Acer Chromebook Spin 511 (R756T) convertible with 11.6-inch display, and the clamshell Acer Chromebook 511 (C736) with an 11.6-inch display. All three Acer Chromebooks are powered by the latest Intel N100 and N200 Processors, and have the option to include built-in 4G LTE[8] connectivity to provide fast, reliable access to educational apps from virtually anywhere. Additionally, like the Acer Chromebook Vero, the new Chromebook features recycled materials, eco-friendly packaging, an energy-efficient design, and EPEAT registration to help schools reduce waste over the life of the device.
