Vivo is rumored to be releasing a folding or flip type cellphone like Samsung and Oppo with the name Vivo X Flip. This was leaked by an informant who called Vivo X Flip on Chinese social media, Monday (10/4).
Quoting from Cnet, this Vivo flip smartphone is clamshell style with a large cover screen in a horizontal orientation at the top of the device. The screen is said to be larger than that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and is different from Oppo's Find N2 Flip which has a large screen in a vertical orientation.
Smartphone companies are betting that foldable phones will be the next big thing in smartphone technology, but these bent devices are yet to make their way into the mainstream.
Flip phones are seen as paving the way for this segment, as they have made a comeback thanks to their compact design and the perception that they allow users to disconnect from their device more than a regular cell phone.
The Vivo X Flip is reported to have a 6.8-inch screen and use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.
However, this Vivo flip phone has yet to be announced and no international release is known. Vivo did not respond to comments regarding this matter.
Even so, Vivo will reportedly launch a book-style folding phone, the Vivo X Fold 2, in early April. This year, Oppo released its first flip phone to international markets as a step that deepens the company's commitment to the foldable phone category.
The Vivo X Flip vertical folding phone is rumored to launch next month. Vivo X Flip will compete with Samsung, which controls the foldable cellphone market and several manufacturers such as Huawei and Oppo.
