Hands-on Review of the Oppo Find N2 Flip Entering the Market Today

Ahead of its official launch in Indonesia, Oppo invited the media crew for a hands-on review through the '1st experience' of the Oppo Find N2 Flip device. This is Oppo's first foldable phone released in China at the end of last year.

Featuring hinge technology and a large front screen capable of displaying horizontal images, the Oppo Find N2 Flip is scheduled to be officially introduced to the Indonesian market on Wednesday 10 May 2023.

The test location is Oppo Gallery Plaza Indonesia, the sidewalk in front of the mall facing Jalan Thamrin, and the HI Roundabout Transjakarta bus stop.

Features on the Home Screen

The first impression when I came to receive the cellphone in folded condition, the device feels light and small in hand. The front screen (cover) measures 3.26 inches and can have various wallpapers of various themes: emoji, digital clock, text, 5 kinds of interactive pets and 5 kinds of animated GIFs.

On the clock theme, if you swipe, the screen can display widgets featuring the camera, weather, agenda reminders and pocket player. It is also possible for users to install 3 widgets on the front screen.

Receive Whatsapp messages can also be opened from the cover screen. Baskoro Adiwijono, spokesperson for Oppo Indonesia, demonstrated when he replied to the chat on the application on the front screen of the Find N2 Flip. Indeed, you can't type because the keyboard doesn't appear, but you can still reply via voice messages and send documents.

Hinge and Camera

This time more trials to see the capabilities of the camera and video. Because the Oppo Find N2 Flip is a folding cellphone, and has a hinge that is strong enough, you can forget about a tripod when shooting. When taking selfies, Tempo.co can comfortably place the cell phone on a chair, construction on the sidewalk, even the floor of the TransJakarta bus stop.

Shooting is done without pressing the shutter because it is enough to wave your hand in front of the camera. Taking selfies when the smartphone is folded uses the main camera with a resolution of 50 MP. There are several stickers that can be used for selfies such as the theme of yellow ducks in summer and donuts.

Oppo Find N2 Flip is supported by a dual rear camera that works with Hasselblad. The main camera has a resolution of 50 MP with a Sony IMX890 f/1.8 sensor. Oppo promises to focus quickly and accurately. Meanwhile, the Ultra-wide camera has a resolution of 8 MP with a Sony IMX355 f/2.2 sensor.

The device is also promised to be able to produce photos with a more natural color tone and close to the original color, good exposure, a wide dynamic range so that the results of photo and video shots are better. The photos produced by the Oppo Find N2 Flip are also minimal in grain or noise in various conditions so that they can capture images with optimal texture and detail.

It's a shame, when testing outdoors the weather wasn't bright enough, but the claim of a color tone that is more natural and close to the original color is quite proven.

Then, the two rear cameras of the Oppo Find N2 Flip are also supported by the MariSilicon X Imaging NPU. This is a special imaging processor developed by OPPO so that it can improve the quality of photos and videos in real-time.

Video and Camcorder-style Flip Phones

In addition, Oppo also promises that it can record 4K videos with the focus being able to move quickly when taking pictures so that users don't have to worry about the video being recorded to be blurry. Regarding this, if you shoot at close range, when changing objects it's a bit blurry for a while. However, if the distance is not so felt.

Then, the video capture method is somewhat different from cellphones in general, which is folded 90 degrees with the FlexForm Mode feature. So the sensation is like holding a camcorder so that it helps to make the video results more stable.

When trying to take a video while walking from the Oppo Gallery to the Transjakarta bus stop, the video results are relatively stable. The video is a bit shaky when shooting while running while crossing the zebra crossing.

Conclusion

From the test results, this phone is suitable for users who prioritize style as well as create content considering that the photos and videos are sharp and natural and not too complicated to use. However, for productivity to use a stylus, it is not suitable.
