Toyota GR86 Specifications Complementary to Trident GAZOO Racing with GR Supra and GR Yaris
PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) presents the all new GR86 as the 2nd generation of the Toyota 86 sports car at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2022. This car is claimed to have a fun to drive sensation with agile and accurate handling, light weight, weight distribution balanced and low center of gravity. The presence of the GR86 completes the trident of GR models in Indonesia along with the GR Supra and GR Yaris.

Racing and Aerodynamic Style Exterior Design
The All New GR86 expresses the front engine and rear wheel drive layout by adopting a style that refers to classic Toyota sports cars such as the Corolla 2000GT and AE86 with the characteristics of a longer engine room, compact cabin and wide body. The car's low shoulders and parallel hood line give it a classic yet modern feel.
TGR brings expertise and experience in the touring racing arena to maximize aerodynamic advantages while instilling a bold racing look. Such as the use of the front Front Air Dam, Aero Stabilizing Grain on the bumper corners, Air Outlets behind the front wheels, Side Sill Spoiler under the doors, Rear Wheel Arch Fin on the rear fender circle, and Rear Air Breather under the front bumper. Bigger and More Powerful Engine
To unleash the engine's maximum potential, the basic engine structure was completely rethought using the TNGA platform, and the overall configuration was developed by Toyota engineers to achieve high levels of driving performance and produce low exhaust emissions.
Achieving one of the best levels of engine power and thermal efficiency, Toyota's advanced technology coded D-4S regulates high-speed combustion and a variable control system. The aim is to achieve greater thermal efficiency and produce more powerful power, thanks to reduced energy losses associated with the exhaust and cooling systems and the movement of mechanical components.
The boxer engine application is placed as low as possible to obtain a lower center of gravity and be more aerodynamic. This horizontally opposed engine uses the same engine block as the Toyota 86, but the capacity of the 4-cylinder engine coded FA24 is increased from 1,998 cc to 2,387 cc by increasing the piston diameter from 86 mm to 94 mm.
The maximum power of the All New GR86 has increased by around 17.5% from 200 PS to 235 PS at 7,000 rpm. Torque also increased by 22% with a peak of 250 Nm at 3,700 rpm, better than the previous level of 205 Nm at 6,400–6,600 rpm. The optimal power combination helps produce smooth and powerful performance up to high engine speeds and provides satisfying acceleration out of corners thanks to strong torque at lower revs.
Sturdy and Strong Light Chassis
Toyota wants to provide the sensation of a car that moves exactly as the driver wants in the All New GR86. To ensure the engine's power output can be controlled with precision, the chassis and body have been reworked using lightweight, high-strength materials to provide extra rigidity while reducing weight and strengthening in key areas to increase safety.
Touching the front makes the lateral rigidity of the front body increase by 60%. At the rear, a touch of G-Force is provided when cornering, so it doesn't oversteer easily.
The focus on reducing weight and lowering the car's center of gravity is reflected in the use of strong and light materials in key areas of the chassis. Such as the application of high-strength steel and aluminum materials which help control roll and pitch behavior. Aluminum is used on the roof panel, front bumper and engine hood.
Plus, further weight savings from the front seats, sound dampening and propeller shaft design are key to the 53:47 front and rear weight balance. This also makes it one of the lightest 4-seater coupes on the market. In fact, the weight of the All New GR86 is almost the same as the previous generation even though there are additional features.
Premium Multimedia Features
The sporty and premium impression of the All New GR86 is demonstrated by the GR branding in the start-up animation on the 8-inch touch screen in the middle of the dashboard and the combination of the 7-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) MID screen and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) behind the steering wheel. TGR improves the performance of computer multimedia systems so that they provide fast and smooth responses.
