Toyota GR Yaris 2024 Facelift Launched, Uses Automatic Transmission with More Than 300 PS Power
The Toyota GR Yaris 2024 facelift was officially introduced recently at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon.
In the improvement version, the GR Yaris has received fairly radical changes compared to the previous model, which was launched in 2020.
In appearance, the GR Yaris 2024 looks more aggressive and sporty thanks to the air grilles on the bumper which are made larger, in order to channel air without obstacles into the engine room.
If the previous model was combined with a 6-speed IMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) manual transmission, the GR Yaris 2024 facelift comes with an 8-speed Gazoo Racing Direct Automatic Transmission which is equipped with paddle shifters.
Before it was officially launched, this car had gone through a series of trials. Where the testing stage itself is carried out by professional racers in a manner similar to racing.
One of them is what the TGR (Toyota Gazoo Racing) World Rally Team (TGR-WRT) racers did on the snowy route in Finland to the Japanese Rally Championship.
Coming with a sportier, more aggressive design and an 8-speed automatic transmission, the development of the GR Yaris 2024 also involved professional racers.
This means that this car also gets technical improvements and a reinforced frame to promise a more challenging driving experience.
The 2024 Toyota GR Yaris Facelift uses an old engine, which has been retuned
The driving force of the Toyota GR Yaris 2024 facelift retains the old engine, namely the G16E-GTS with a capacity of 1,600 cc 3-cylinder in-line DOHC Turbocharged.
Different from the pre-facelift generation, the engine on the GR Yaris 2024 facelift was re-tuned.
In this way, the power produced is 32 PS and 30 Nm greater, which has now reached 304 PS and 400 Nm for the Japanese market.
For the European market, the performance output is slightly smaller, namely 280 PS and 390 Nm of torque, with an increase in power of 19 PS and 30 Nm of torque compared to the pre-facelift model.
Like the pre-facelift model, the 2024 GR Yaris uses a 4WD drive system with power distributed to all four wheels.
As additional information, the performance of the pre-facelift GR Yaris is capable of producing 261 PS of power at 6,500 rpm with maximum torque reaching 360 Nm at 3,000-4,600 rpm.
