Cars that fall into the SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) category usually have special characteristics. Among other things, they look dashing with sculptural masculine body designs, as well as a relatively higher ground clearance than city cars, sedans, and even MPVs.
So, one of the newest SUVs in Indonesia is the Mitsubishi New Xpander Cross. The low SUV with a 7-passenger configuration was only officially introduced during the 2022 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Motor Show (GIIAS) in BSD City, Tangerang, last August.
Even though since birth Xpander Cross still has a "breed" version of its LMPV, namely Xpander, it's still in the SUV genre. So that Mitsubishi also adds a more robust feel and a number of additional features to strengthen the vehicle's function as an adventurous car.
New Suspension Makes Mitsubishi Xpander Cross 2022 Taller
This time we will not discuss the general updates seen on the exterior and interior of the New Xpander Cross. But more specifically to the sector of the legs and control. Because the LSUV with the three diamond logo is now getting improvements to the rear suspension.
Mitsubishi installed the Pajero Sport's shock absorber, which has a larger diameter than the previous Xpander Cross. This condition makes the Xpandre Cross's ground clearance slightly higher than other 7-seater LSUVs.
But in order to make the driver and passengers feel more comfortable with the kickback, valves are also installed which are usually used by premium European sedans.
"In the shock absorber section there is also a valve change so that the damping quality is more optimal," explained Arif Dwianto, Head of Training Section of PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) in his official statement.
"Usually a car with high ground clearance will greatly impact comfort. However, thanks to the use and refinement of the suspension, it can still provide comfort for the driver and passengers of the New Xpander Cross," continued Arif.
Stay Comfortable Maneuvering on Slippery Roads
Not only the use of new suspensions and other derivative components, but the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross 2022 is also embedded with new technology. Its name is Active Yaw Control (AYC) which is able to guarantee control on slippery road terrain.
Driving safety features that actually exist in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution can make the driver more precise when driving. This feature will work to provide automatic braking when the driver bends either on dry or wet roads.
The inner side of the wheel will provide braking so that steering control can be maintained. When this feature is active, there will be an indicator on the instrument panel.
Use Additional Insulators to Make the Cabin More Impermeable
Still around under the car, it turns out that the New Xpander Cross also has a more soundproof cabin. The secret lies in using insulators under the bonnet and behind the engine on the car body.
There are also bullheads installed on each side to prevent noise when opening the door. Not only that, this car also gets a silencer that is mounted on the undercover under the engine.
