Honda and Telkom Collaborate Again to Present the Honda MetaWorld Virtual World


PT Honda Prospect Motor and PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk collaborated to develop Honda MetaWorld, a virtual world platform (metaverse) where users can connect and interact like in the real world. This collaboration is part of the metaNesia platform developed by Telkom Indonesia as the first and largest metaverse in Indonesia.

Honda first appeared at metaNesia in 2022, which at that time was recorded as the first ATPM in Indonesia to be present in the metaverse. Unlike the car showroom concept that was presented in the previous Honda virtual world, Honda MetaWorld, which was introduced in 2023, features the Honda city concept with a playing area that is 60 times larger than the previous version, more attractive features, more interactive technology, with more entertainment and activities therein.

Honda MetaWorld now provides more areas for visitors to explore including the Brio Skate Park, Virtual Stage, Residential Area, Urban Area, and Test Drive Area where visitors can drive the latest Honda WR-V virtually.

Avatars which are virtual representations of visitors at Honda MetaWorld are now made more interactive with Mic and Chat technology, more varied choices of gestures and expressions, as well as a selfie feature where visitors can save photos of their avatars in various areas of Honda MetaWorld.

To further enliven Honda MetaWorld, Honda also plans to hold various activities and games such as community gatherings and virtual talk shows, racing competitions and many more. Of course, visitors can also get to know Honda products more closely through various interactive information, see the exterior and interior of the car, and visit Honda's website and social media via links in various areas of Honda MetaWorld.

Most of the users of the metaNesia platform are young people who are referred to as Gen-Z. This segment, which is in the age range between 9-24 years, is also one of the largest populations in Indonesia, and has the characteristics of being very open and adaptable quickly to developments in digital technology. For Honda, this segment is also one of the largest segments of current and future first-time car buyers.

This can be seen from Honda's car sales data in Indonesia from 2021 to 2022, where the Honda Brio continues to be Honda's model with the highest sales, reaching around 50% of Honda's total sales. Honda Brio itself is a model aimed at young people and as many as 70% of its total consumers are first-time car buyers.

Apart from using the metaverse platform, Honda also actively uses digital platforms to communicate with consumers in the youth segment, including through the Brio Virtual Drift Challenge game application, Virtual Modification, Honda Racing Simulator Championship and various activities on its social media.
