TGRI Secures 1st Podium in the 2023 Sprint Rally National Championship, 4th Series


TGR Global Dominates the 2023 WEC and WRC Podiums. Carrying the target of defending the National Sprint Rally Championship title, the GR Yaris AP4 led TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Indonesia (TGRI) racer Ryan Nirwan and navigator Adi Indiarto to achieve the first podium in the 2023 Interauto National Sprint Rally Championship Series 4 at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium Circuit (GBLA) Gedebage Bandung, Saturday-Sunday (9–10/9).

Capitalizing on TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) motorsport DNA, the performance of the GR Yaris AP4 supports TGRI racers to be able to perform optimally from the shakedown session to completing the 4 stages of the race or Special Stage (SS).

Ryan and Adi immediately went all-out by occupying first place since the shakedown session on Friday (8/9). Entering Saturday (9/9), TGRI racers immediately took the lead in SS 1 with the fastest time of 02:48.39 and continued with the fastest time of 02:45.17 in SS 2.

Both of them showed positive results by returning to the lead in SS 3 with the fastest time of 03:37.82 and 03:36.5 in SS 4, Sunday (10/9). Conclusively, the two of them recorded the fastest total time of 12:47:93 which made TGRI the first overall winner and the only pair with a record time of 12 minutes.

"We came to the city of Bandung with optimism that we would achieve maximum points to maintain our chances of winning the national championship. "With the spirit of continuous improvement, together with TGRI technicians, we carried out total adaptation and tuning, especially in the undercarriage sector, to adjust tarmac track conditions to fight competitors with more advanced cars," said TGRI racer, Ryan Nirwan.

"Thankfully, the good chemistry between the team and racers means that Adi and I can fight with full confidence to win first place overall so that we remain on track to become national champions this year," he explained again.

Podium Domination by TGR Global in the 2023 WEC and WRC International Competitions

In the second year of using the new Toyota GR010 Hybrid racing car in the most prestigious Hypercar class, TGR immediately dominated world endurance racing in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) by winning first place in 4 of the 5 series that were held.

Pushing the Limit for Better, the two Toyota GR010 Hybrid racing cars achieved the first and second double podium at the WEC 6 Hours of Fuji 2023, at the Fuji Circuit in Japan, Sunday (10/9). This extraordinary achievement once again placed TGR as WEC World Manufacturing Champion for the 5th time in a row.

Meanwhile, the 2023 WEC Drivers' World Champion title can only be determined at the final event of the WEC 8 Hours of Bahrain, 4 November 2023, where the biggest opportunity is held by the two TGR race cars.

Another outstanding performance was heard from the 2023 World Rally Championship (WRC). Relying on the GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid, the pair of young racer Kalle Rovanperä and seasoned navigator Jonne Halttunen managed to reach the first podium of the 2023 Acropolis Rally in Greece, Thursday–Sunday (7–10/9) .

This achievement places TGR and the young racer who has successfully won the 2022 WRC Drivers' and Manufacturers' World Champion title, in first place in the 2023 WRC manufacturers' and drivers' standings. The second podium was won by the TGR racer pair Elfyn Evans and navigator Scott Martin who competed fiercely with their teammates. his team throughout the rally.

There are still 4 WRC series remaining in 2023, TGR opens up the opportunity to win the WRC Manufacturing World Champion title for the 4th time since officially starting to compete in 2017.

For the record, TGR won the WRC World Manufacturing Champion title in 2018 and 2021 using the Toyota Yaris WRC and repeated it with the new GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid rally car in 2022. Meanwhile, for the WRC Drivers' World Champion title, TGR won it in 2019, 2020 , and 2021 by relying on the Toyota Yaris WRC and with the GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid in 2022.
