The era of electric cars is indeed getting stretched with the emergence of many new players in this class. Not wanting to be left behind, Mazda finally launched their first electric car, the Mazda MX-30 EV.
Expected to be the opening product for Mazda's EV line-up, this small SUV offers something that competitors don't have, namely the fun of driving. Mazda MX-30 EV 2022 itself comes in 2 types, Standard and Premium Plus.
The Outer Design Is Different From Most EVs
From the outside this car looks quite compact, its shape is more towards a crossover although Mazda still calls it an SUV. The front with Mazda's signature design, namely Kodo Design, with narrowed headlights and hidden fog lamps.
This makes it similar to other CX variants. There is also a two-tone roof that can only be paired with gray. Behind the use of sloping glass makes it like an SUV Coupe.
One that is quite odd is that the second row of doors opens counterclockwise, like the Mazda RX-8's. The tires are 18 inches in size, combined with silver five-spoke alloy wheels.
Interior Uses Plastic Bottles
The interior offers a minimalist and luxurious design thanks to the center console that seems to float, with eco-friendly materials. Likewise, the door trim uses recycled plastic drinking bottles.
The seats are still in fabric form but are equipped with electrical settings. In the middle there is an outboard head unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features.
Standard features on modern cars such as keyless entry, sunroof, digital ac, and digital speedometer also remain. Coupled with Mazda's safety features, namely i-Activesense which includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keep Assist.
Serve Mazda's Typical Driving Fun
Everyone knows that Mazda is very vocal when it comes to handling and driving fun. This is also what makes the MX-30 EV finally paired with the New G-Vectoring Control Plus (e-GVC Plus) feature as standard in each variant.
This feature ensures that the driver will experience a natural and consistent control that is typical of Mazda, even though this is an electric car. No wonder the driving feeling will be similar to the CX-3 or CX-5 which is above the average SUV class.
The ability of the electric battery is mediocre
This car uses e-Skyactiv EV technology which uses a 35.5 kWh lithium ion battery which is placed under the passenger seat. This is to produce a very low center of gravity.
Combined with an electric motor, the Mazda MX-30 EV can produce 143 hp and 271 Nm of torque. Unfortunately this car on a single full charge can only travel 160 km. Meanwhile, other electric cars have now averaged over 300 km.
