Honda has officially announced its long-term plans for the electric vehicle segment, precisely in October 2021. At the beginning of its work in filling the electric vehicle market, there were five concept models introduced from the e:N line in various forms. Among them are the e:N Coupe in the form of a sports car, the e:N SUV and the e:N GT.
Now two models have been announced will soon be produced and available for consumers to own. The two models in question are the Honda e: NS1 and e: NP1. Interestingly, one of the models looks very familiar, because it adopts the latest HR-V design. The five electric car models will be gradually launched by Honda until 2027.
As promised, the Bamboo Curtain Country became the first market to sell it. Produced in a separate factory as a result of a joint venture between GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda. At the same time it will be a base for export to other countries. The model that walked first was e:NS1. Marketing has started on April 26, 2022. Followed by e:NP1 next month.
If you look at the shape of the e: NS1, it is very similar to the All New Honda HR-V which just launched in Indonesia. But this is a pure electric car and the design details show it. At the same time also Honda's first electric car to pave in China. Honda said, the basis of its development using the Monozukuri philosophy. That is the art of making something based on originality, passion with electrification technology and high intelligence.
The hallmark of electric cars can be seen from the plain grille. No need for air cavities for intakes allowing horizontal blades like the conventional HR-V to be replaced. As well as the main identity if this is not a car that drinks fuel oil. But it's not just a differentiator, behind it is a charging port for charging the battery. The rear still remains like the regular HR-V. It's just that without the H logo but in the form of writing.
Honda has not disclosed all the detailed specifications. What is certain is that the e:N Architecture F platform is the result of a special development. Although the EV-specific construction, still prioritizes Honda's distinctive sporty driving experience.
Reports say the base trim of the e:NS1 will be powered by an electric motor of 179 hp and 310 Nm of torque. The energy source comes from a 53.6 kWh lithium-ion battery capable of producing a cruising range of up to 420 km (based on CLTC). Meanwhile, the 510 km long range variant is available. The battery has a capacity of 68.8 kWh and the motor produces 201 hp.
Then it will present e:N OS, an integrated system containing Honda Sensing, Honda Connect and Digital Cockpit. Honda Sensing 360 is sure to be available with a wider range. Not only at the front and rear, but omnidirectional or 360 degrees around the vehicle with an additional 5 radar units at each corner.
During the moment of introduction of e:NS1 and e:NP1, Honda launched an online store. All purchasing processes from ordering to delivery are only through direct online communication. Consumers are also led to feel a new experience in buying a car. Even so, the physical showroom is not forgotten. GAC Honda is preparing a special outlet for electric vehicles and a showroom at the mall.
