At noon on August 22, Rising Automobile CEO Wu Bing's medium and large R7 SUV will be available in late September and expected to ship at the end of October, the smart electric car brand belonging to Chinese industrial giant SAIC said on social media.
Wu Bing said that the R7 is using a number of smart technologies for the first time and said that the company has polished the details for a better user experience.
According to the company's official website, the R7 is positioned as a high-end pure electric SUV. It is equipped with a Haolong 8155 chip, standard Premium 4D imaging radar, and Nvidia Orin smart driving chip. It has a range of over 600 kilometers and a peak power of up to 400 kW.
The R7 uses a slim slipback design with a sports car class wide body. Equipped with the Trinity Multidimensional Sensory Interactive Smart Cabin, and the world's first mass-produced Huawei Visual Enhanced AR-HUD Flat Screen System. It uses a 43-inch wide, three-part native color display, including a 15.05-inch 2.5K AMOLED flexible center control display.
In addition, the R7 uses a frameless inductive electric opening and closing door that combines an inductive electric opening and closing door with a suction valve. The front and rear seats are wrapped in Nappa leather, and the passenger seats are equipped with powered leg brackets and heated leg brackets.
In October 2021, SAIC announced its investment in the establishment of Rising Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. with a registered capital of 7 billion yuan (1.02 billion US dollars), thereby accelerating the development of mid-to-high-end smart electric vehicles with self-owned brands. SAIC invested 6.65 billion yuan in the company and employees held 350 million yuan. SAIC has separated the brand from its passenger car arm, allowing the Rising to operate in the market as a lightweight asset.
