Chery Omoda E5 has more complete ADAS than the regular Omoda 5, even without V2L
The Chery Omoda E5 or what we previously knew was the Chery Omoda 5 EV has been officially assembled locally or CKD (Completely Knock Down) at the PT Handal Indonesia Motor partner factory located in Pondok Ungu, Bekasi, West Java starting December 2023.
As Chery's first electric car in the Southeast Asia region, the locally assembled Omoda E5 is a form of Chery's commitment to the Indonesian market to accelerate the growth of emission-free vehicles in the country.
"So in this one year Chery has been well received by the Indonesian people. We are manufacturing the Omoda E5 more quickly to meet customers who have purchased 400 units to date, since its first appearance at GIIAS 2023 last August. "We hope that these 400 units can meet customers until Q1 2024," said Rifki Setiawan, Head of Brand PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) at the FORWOT (Automotive Journalists Forum) anniversary event which took place in Sentul, Bogor, Sunday (3/12 ).
Rifki further said that the Chery Omoda E5 for the Indonesian market has slightly different specifications than in its home country.
"In China itself, on the right side, there is a box like a petrol cover, which is Vehicle-to-Load (V2l). "But in Indonesia it doesn't seem to be that important, but overall it's the same," he added.
For those of you who don't know, V2L is a feature that supplies AC type electric current from the car battery, to be used to power electronic devices such as TVs, laptops or cellphones.
In fact, with the V2L feature, users don't need to worry about running out of battery or not being able to turn on other electronic devices when traveling long distances or camping.
Even though it is not equipped with a V2L, the Omoda E5's driving safety matters are more complete than the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) Omoda 5 version.
"On Omoda 5 there are 11 ADAS features, on Omoda E5 there are 14," he said.
For your information, the ADAS safety features on Omoda 5 include; Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB), Drive Away Warning (DAW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RTA), Integrated Cruise Assist (ICA), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and finally Lane Keeping Assist (LKA).
Chery Omoda E5 Can Cover a Distance of 450 Kilometers!
For the Indonesian market, the Chery Omoda E5 has a standard variant which can cover a distance of 450 kilometers when the battery is fully charged.
"While globally there are long range variants of 700 kilometers and 450 kilometers for standard, in Indonesia there are only 450 kilometers," he said.
The reason CSI only presents the Omoda E5 with a range of 450 kilometers is not without reason.
"We saw the needs of the Indonesian people, and we felt that a distance of 450 kilometers was sufficient. "If there is market demand for a 700 kilometer range, that doesn't mean we won't (will) sell it," he concluded.
