The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2025 will reportedly be the latest generation of ANPS (All New Pajero Sport) which will use the platform and engine from the Triton 2024.
However, information is circulating that the latest Pajero Sport will only be introduced a year and a half after the Triton, which means this moment will occur in mid-2025.
So even though it's still far away, the Australian automotive media, Drive, has published a digital engineering drawing which is said to be an illustration of the appearance of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2025.
Combination Design Triton and Mitsubishi Xforce
Through the results of Theophilus Chin's design, the next generation Pajero Sport is described as using a face similar to the New Triton including the design of the main lights, DRL, to the front grille.Continuing to the side, the silhouette of the car's body is described as similar to that of an American SUV with an upright body, large window glass, and a clear body line in the wheel fender area.
The boxy body can also be seen in the rear door design, complete with wide glass. However, the unique rear combination lamp model is similar to that of the Mitsubishi Xforce.
The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2025 is also predicted to have many changes to the cabin area, but still borrows the same design lines as the Triton.
A head unit with an extra wide screen, semi-bucked seats covered in premium leather, a panoramic sunroof, and even more advanced off-road features are certainly expected in this latest Pajero Sport.
Machine Predictions
Because it is based on the New Triton, it is likely that the engine will also use a similar unit.
In Thailand, the Triton comes with a 4N16 2.4-liter Hyper Power Turbo Diesel Intercooler engine capable of producing 184 PS of peak power at 3,500 rpm and 430 Nm of torque at 2,250-2,500 rpm.
But there is also a Triton that uses a 2.4-liter Twin Turbo engine with a power of 201 PS and 470 Nm of torque.
If this second engine is used, it will certainly be very interesting, considering that the Pajero Sport Dakar 2023, which is currently being sold by PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI), uses a 2.4-liter 4N15 MIVEC Turbocharged engine with 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque.
"When we want to make the next Pajero Sport, of course I want to be like the extraordinary Pajero, that means the car has to have very high performance. I'm not sure if I can do it, but be patient and we'll see," said Takao Kato, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors quoted from Drive.
