Affirming its Commitment to the World of Racing, Honda Announces Its Participation in the 2024 World Car Racing Sports Event
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. through Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) announced to reinforce its commitment by participating in various world car racing sports events in 2024. For car racing (four-wheeled) sports, Honda will continue its participation in the world championships Formula 1 (F1), IndyCar Series, IMSA, TCR Series, Super Formula and Super GT in Japan.
In the F1 championship, this season Honda continues its partnership by providing technical support to the Oracle Red Bull Racing team and the Scuderia AlphaTauri team through the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC). HRC produces power unit components for Red Bull Powertrains (RBPT) throughout the season. Where in the 2023 season, the Oracle Red Bull Racing team won the Constructor and Driver titles with a total of 21 wins. 2024 will also be the 60th anniversary of Honda's participation in F1 racing.
In North America, Honda Performance Development (HPD), which is responsible for Honda's racing activities in the region, has changed its name to Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC-US) starting in January 2024. The unification between HPD and HRC aims to increase the development of Honda automotive motorsport globally.
In 2024, Honda will also provide engines to five teams competing in the IndyCar Series. In 2023, Alex Palou from the Chip Ganassi Racing team won the world title in the racer category.
Apart from that, Honda will also participate again in the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) racing event by featuring the HRC brand for the first time. Honda will again rely on the Acura type ARX-06 in this event after it was first used in 2023.
For the 2024 TCR Series racing event, Honda will also continue its participation in the world-class touring car racing event by relying again on its Honda Civic Type R FL5 TCR racing car.
In Japan itself, Honda will participate in the Super GT racing event using its new racing car, namely the Honda Civic Type R-GT. Honda is determined to win the championship title in the GT500 class in 2024. Then in the Super Formula racing event, Honda will also participate again by providing Honda racing engines for six teams and introducing a new racer, namely Ayumu Iwasa, who previously raced in the FIA Formula 2 world championship in 2023.
