After more than 10 years of sticking with the same model despite having undergone several facelifts, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2023 has finally appeared. Using the name Mitsubishi ASX, which is also known as the Mitsubishi RVR, its figure has completely changed.
Specifically for the European market, the ASX 2023 changes to the Renault Captur rebadge SUV. Mitsubishi plans to start marketing it in March 2023. And Germany is the first country to sell Mitsubishi's newest SUV.
Take advantage of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance
Mitsubishi's strategy to rebadge the Captur into the latest generation ASX is something that makes sense. Considering that currently the brand with the three diamond logo has joined the global Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.
From its appearance alone, it can be seen that Mitsubishi has not completely overhauled the entire external and internal appearance of the Renault Captur to become the newest ASX, except for the name, logo and emblem.
The front grille, which previously wore the Renault logo, has been replaced with Mitsubishi's signature three-diamond logo along with Dynamic Shield-style ornaments. Meanwhile, on the back, the three-diamond logo has been replaced with a long "MITSUBISHI" emblem.
Mitsubishi provides five new ASX engine options to European consumers, all of which are also taken from Renault. Starting from 1.0L turbo powered 97 hp with 160 Nm of torque. Then there is also a 138 hp 1.3L turbo mild hybrid engine that has 260 Nm of torque with a manual transmission, and the same engine with 156 hp of power and 270 Nm of torque but uses an automatic dual clutch transmission.
In addition, there is also a 1.6L hybrid engine that has 141 hp of power and 148 hp of torque combined with a 1.3 kWh battery capacity. Finally there is a 1.6L plug-in hybrid engine that produces 160 hp with a maximum torque of 144 Nm combined with a 10.5 kWh battery. Mitsubishi claims the Outlander Sport 2023 hybrid can be traveled up to 49 km using fully electric power.
The interior is also similar to the Renault Captur
Except for the three-diamond logo on the steering wheel and the animated graphics of the ASX unit, the dashboard is also identical to that of its French sibling. In the lowest type, the ASX adopts an analog instrument panel with a 4.2-inch MID, then digital instrument panels are also available with sizes of 7 and 10.25 inches, especially for the highest type.
Not only that, the ASX also has two types of head unit screen sizes, namely 7 inches of landscape layout and 9 inches of large portrait layout. Consumers can connect gadgets to the head unit via Android Auto and Apple Carplay wirelessly. Several features such as driving mode and ambient light can also be adjusted via the ASX head unit screen.
A series of advanced safety features have also been installed in the latest ASX, for example autonomous emergency braking that can detect pedestrians and cyclists, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, blind spot assist, active lane keeping, active lane warning, and high-beam assist.
