After its appearance leaked on social media Twitter, Mazda 2 2023 was finally released on Friday (27/01/2023) in Japan. This is the second facelift after the appearance of the first facelift in 2019.
Even though this model is almost 10 years old, Mazda has chosen to refresh its appearance to make it more relevant to current conditions. This can be seen from the changes that focus more on aesthetic aspects, both on the exterior and interior.
Mazda 2 2023 Only Changed Slightly
The biggest change in this facelift version is in the front fascia which is now made sportier. By maintaining KODO Design's characteristics, the grille ornament is now given a glossy black color. Also, the front bumper is shaped like a "mustache".
Especially for the Sport type, the grille is decorated with large holes that strengthen its sporty aura. If you look in more detail, the Mazda logo in the middle of the grille is also made bigger than before.
Almost all types of Mazda 2 that are marketed in the Land of the Rising Sun get new alloy wheels which are dominated by a triangular pattern. For the Sport type, the alloy type with a size of 16 inches. While the BD type uses steel wheels with hubcap covers.
Use Environmentally Friendly Materials
Now for Mazda 2 BD type buyers, Mazda also provides two accessory packages for those who are young at heart, such as Rookie Drive which gives the impression of being a racer and dynamic Clap Pop with a white roof.
Not to mention also the three dashboard color options that can be chosen specifically for the BD type, namely gloss light blue, gloss black, and pure white. One more thing, Mazda also provides two new exterior color options for this hatchback, namely Aistream Blue Metallic and Aero Gray Metallic.
Interestingly, behind the appearance of the Mazda 2 2023 which hasn't changed much, manufacturers are also starting to apply environmentally friendly materials. For example, interior materials derived from bioplastics from plants. Then the painting technique also uses "roof film" which can reduce CO2 emissions.
The price is less than IDR 300 million
Mazda hasn't changed anything technical about this hatchback. Still maintaining the 110 PS 1.5-liter petrol engine with 142 Nm of torque. Then there is the option of a 1.5-liter diesel engine with 105 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Both of these engines are combined with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Mazda 2 petrol engine variants consist of the 15 C, 15 BD, 15 Sport and 15 Sunlit Citrus types, while the diesel engine variants are the XD, XD BD and XD Sport+ types. For the Japanese market, prices for the Mazda 2 2023 start from 1,529,000-2,541,000 yen or the equivalent of Rp. 176 million to Rp. 292 million.
