Based on Honda's global safety slogan of “Safety For Everyone”, Honda continues to support the latest technology for safety and driver assistance systems by preparing the latest generation of Honda SENSING technology, namely Honda SENSING 360 and Honda SENSING Elite.
This technology is still in the development stage and will be put into use in the future where new functions will be added by Honda. The Honda SENSING 360 technology will be made to reduce the burden on the driver by detecting abnormal conditions that occur in the driver and also the environment around the vehicle and can further reduce the risk of collisions with the omnidirectional 360 feature.
Honda SENSING 360 is planned to be implemented sequentially starting in 2024. Honda SENSING 360 consists of; Advanced In Lane Driving with Hands-off Function, Driver Emergency Support System, Exit Warning, Driver Attention Warning and Collision Warning, In-Lane Collision Avoidance Assist Technology and Emergency Steering Support Technology.
Honda SENSING Elite will be developed into new technologies to help drivers achieve a safe and undisturbed journey from home to their destination with peace of mind in any road conditions, including freeways, leveraging the recognition and understanding of Honda's artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Honda SENSING Elite consists of; Driver assistance on non-expressway roads, Automatic parking assist, Driver assistance for all expressway driving situations. This new technology is also planned to be applied sequentially globally starting in 2024.
The goal of the two new technologies is to halve the death rate from global traffic accidents involving Honda motorcycles and cars by 2030. Honda has set the following targets:
• Seek to equip all new car models globally with Honda SENSING (including 360 and Elite) with motorcycle detection function by 2030.
• Strive to complete all new models in all major markets with the Honda SENSING 360 by 2030.
Honda SENSING itself is a safety technology device and driver assistance system that Honda is currently implementing in its mass-produced four-wheeled vehicles. This technology has been installed in 99% of Honda's new car models sold in Japan as well as the United States and 86% globally. Cumulative sales of vehicles equipped with Honda SENSING have now reached 14 million units*.
Honda strives for zero traffic accident deaths involving Honda motorcycles and cars globally by 2050. By leveraging the strengths unique to companies conducting both motorcycle and auto business in technology safety research and development, Honda will work sincerely to realize a collision free society everyone shares the road.
