Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo says that Apple will launch the iPhone 15 this year. Unlike its predecessors, the iPhone 15 is said to be supported by charging using a USB Type C connection.
Ming Chi Kuo said the use of the connection complies with EU regulations. Even so, the USB Type C connection presented by the iPhone 15 will only work optimally with a certified cable.
Thus, not just any USB Type C cable can charge from this high-end cellphone. According to Kuo, Apple will optimize fast charging performance with USB-C on iPhone 15 models using certain of these certified cables.
Quoted from Phone Arena, Thursday (23/3), currently, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 support a maximum charging speed of up to 20W, while the Pro model supports up to 27W.
As for the charging device, it must be purchased separately, considering that Apple no longer includes a power adapter in the cellphone purchase box. Something similar seems to be re-enforced on the iPhone 15, but what's different is the Type C connection.
The move aligns with another report from tech leak ShrimpApplePro that says Apple is seeking MFi (Made for iPhone) certification for USB Type C accessories.
Without an MFi-certified cable, the device's ability to charge is not optimal. It is estimated that Apple will introduce the iPhone 15 in September 2023.
Not yet officially released, features to the design of the iPhone 15 have spread across the virtual world. Here are a number of leaks circulating.
The iPhone manufacturer, Apple, usually releases the new iPhone series in September each year. Before that, rumors and leaks were often circulating. Many also eventually proved valid.
Some of the leaks related to the iPhone 15 series include four models that will be released with the same size as the iPhone 14 series. That includes two 6.1-inch iPhones and two 6.7-inch iPhones.
An iPhone with a 6.1-inch screen will become a standard iPhone 15. Meanwhile, one of the 6.7-inch models will be the iPhone 15 "Plus". The other 6.1 and 6.7-inch iPhones will be the more expensive high-end "Pro" models.
As with the iPhone 14 lineup, the best features will be reserved for the iPhone 15 Pro model so the extra costs are worth it, reports MacRumors.
All of these iPhone 15 models are equipped with a more power-efficient OLED display chip that is manufactured at 28nm. This allows for reduced power consumption which can ultimately increase battery life.
Information circulating so far also predicts the presence of a USB-C port. Apple will finally go with USB-C charging and ditch the Lightning port. In addition, the iPhone 15 features a rounded design to make it more comfortable to hold.
The Dynamic Island feature will also be available for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, in addition to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. That means Apple will be eliminating the notch, aka bezel, it has used since the iPhone X for its flagship iPhone lineup.
Apple is also said to be planning to use Qualcomm chipsets for new devices because the modem chip is still under development.
The standard iPhone 15 models will get an upgrade to the A16 chipset found in the iPhone 14 Pro models, with the iPhone 15 Pro models using the faster and more efficient 3 nanometer A17 chip.
The Pro model could see an upgrade to a titanium frame, and some minor design changes with the device's more curved edges, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max is also expected to get periscope lens technology for enhanced zoom capabilities.
For the price, the iPhone 15 is expected to remain the same with a standard 6.1-inch entry-level device starting at US$799 and the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus starting at US$899.
Quoting TomsGuide, there is a certain pattern of launching the iPhone series. Apple usually releases the latest series in September each year. For example, the iPhone 14 launches September 2022.
In the past decade, Apple has only announced its new flagship smartphone once outside of September, namely October 2020. That also happened at the start of the pandemic.
Thus it is very likely that the iPhone 15 will arrive in September 2023. Typically, Apple announces its phones about ten days before their official release, with pre-orders opening a week early. A source claims that on September 22 or 23 we could see the iPhone 15 go on sale.
