Ahead of the 2023 American MotoGP event this weekend, Alex Rins opened up about a number of problems he was experiencing in the garage of the LCR Honda team.
Alex Rins really let out his nerves, to the point where he dared to call himself 'wasted' at Honda even though he had just joined.
The former Suzuki racer feels that his abilities are not taken into account at all, his voice is not heard by Honda's top brass.
The main problem is the distribution of motor components, because this father of one child feels he doesn't get the best 'stuff'.
Due to injuries to Marc Marquez and Joan Mir, it was lucky that the 27-year-old racer was finally loaned the best motorbike parts from Honda in Argentina
But still, Rins felt ignored and not considered important in the LCR Honda team. In fact, rider number 42 dared to say that the Japanese made it difficult for him.
"During the last race in Argentina, I understood that HRC was not counting on me. The Japanese are very stiff and right now my hands are like being tied," said Rins as quoted by Mowmag.
For Rins, Honda pays too much attention to the hierarchy between the main team and the satellites, even though this is no longer a trend in MotoGP.
It was as if only the Repsol Honda team racers were paying attention, especially Marc Marquez.
"When I arrived here (America), they told me that Honda was strong here. I replied that actually Marc was the only one who was strong here with Honda. But then of course I hoped to perform well too and that's what I did," said the rider.
"I'm trying to learn, look at the data. I also want to see my Suzuki data here in the last few years, but of course that's impossible," he explained.
Rins has high hopes of performing well at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) this weekend, Friday to Sunday (14-16/4/2023).
Interestingly, he was the first rider to break Marquez's winning streak at COTA in 2019.
"Right now, I don't feel like I can compare myself to Pol Espargaro or Alex Marquez, but I think I'm working well and I can develop in the future," he continued.
Takaaki Nakagami's teammate also hopes to perform well this weekend and get more support from Honda.
